Leonardo da Vinci: The Mechanics of Man

Da Vinci's anatomical drawings from 1510-11are truly unbelievable. They are so accurate and this exhibition at the Queen's Gallery allows you to listen to medical practitioners views on his drawings and how precise they were.

Fever Ray

A mesmerizing stage set up from Fever Ray at Electric Picnic 2010 was one of the reasons I chose to edit lamps for some of my assets. I would like to re-create that stage by animating the images in Flash or After Affects, I just have to learn how first.

Sound in Film

After the Voice and Text lecture I was reminded of the animated film, Belleville Rendez-vous, by Sylvain Chomez. There is great use of song and sounds and very little dialogue.

Inspiration Station

I've been trying to find some inspiration for some projects and came across some photography by a guy called Trey Ratcliff at the Burning Man festival http://stuckincustoms.smugmug.com/Burning-Man-Page In light of some of the discussions in Media & Culture it reminded me that some people are not only living a second life online but they are creating one for themselves in a place that is open to it!

Northern Periphery Programme

Adobe Campus Tour

Enjoyed this seminar which taught me some interesting new techniques in Photoshop and allowed me to check out Premiere Pro and After Effects which I'm not familiar with. Fun day and nice lunch too! It was the same day that Adobe confirmed that 2.9 million customers may have had private information stolen during a cyber attack on their website http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-24392819

Edward Tufte is someone I enjoy reading about, there was an article about him recently in the Irish FT Weekend Magazine which was centered around graphics.
